Biography

Dr. Guzman graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1988 and joined the department the following year. He completed his undergraduate work in his native Mexico and was afforded the opportunity to conduct research in France and Sweden when he received the International Fogarty Foundation Fellowships. His research interests include nanobiotechnology in DNA and protein in nanointerconnects and mathematical modeling.

Research

Nanobiotechnology applications in DNA and protein nanointerconnects, affinity interaction technology in chromatography, precipitation and ultrafiltration for protein and metal ion isolation and purification, study and characterization of adsorption of proteins at interfaces, self-assembled monolayers, synthesis and modification of polymers, synthesis and development of reactive adsorptive surfaces and polymers, mathematical modeling.
